Scouts SA joins forces with the Sprint Auto Parts Rally SA

The Sprint Auto Parts Rally South Australia is today pleased to confirm a new platform sponsorship of the 2009 event by Scouts SA.

As well as injecting funds, this partnership will involve direct participation by local Scouts in the running of the Rally and will provide The Rally SA with additional credibility and continuity, and add a stronger community focus to the event.

"The aim of scouting is to encourage the physical, intellectual and social development of young people so that they may take a constructive place as members of their local communities," said Dan Ryan, Scouts SA CEO. "Getting our Scouts involved in many levels of a national motor sport event will serve that aim very well, and provide many relevant opportunities and experiences"

Event Director and Clerk of Course Ivar Stanelis said that he is delighted to enter into the new association with Scouts SA. "It is exciting to have closer ties to the largest youth development organisation in South Australia, and I am confident it will be beneficial to both organizations," he said. "There are interesting parallels between the Scouts movement and Rallying – both involve high levels of teamwork, leadership, adventure and challenge and both are extremely detailed environments where 'Be Prepared' is the byword," he said.

"Sprint Auto Parts Managing Director Chas Calandro is also delighted with this association with Scouts SA and looks forward to the opportunity to work together in this area and other in the future."

The Scouts will showcase their own motorsport activities at the Angaston Recreation Park Super Special Stages, at the Mt Crawford Forest Stages, and the Service Park at Mt Pleasant. The Scouting recycling business will also come into play at all venues, whilst there will be many opportunities to fill volunteer roles at all levels during the event.

Scouts SA prepares young people for business and community leadership and aims to help them achieve their full potential. Goals, principles and values, and further information are at www.sa.scouts.com.au

Rally SA, held in the Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills and Mt Barker regions between July 31 and August 2, will double as the sixth and final round of the 2009 Australian Rally Championship and Round three of the South Australian Rally Championship. The event also counts for the State of Origin Rally Challenge and will run an all-comers section.

Event information can be found on the official website of the Australian Rally Championship, www.rally.com.au and at the event website www.rallysa.com.au
