Official Wins Rally Car Ride

23 July 2006

As an incentive for early registration of Officials, a Hot Ride in a Rally Car at the 2006 Toyota Rally SA Media Day was up for grabs to one lucky official who registered before June 30th.

The response was overwhelming with over 350 Officials registering by the June 30 close off date. The lucky winner was Jane Alcorn - a road closure official from Charleston Stage. We asked her for a small story on herself which follows.

Road Official Jane Alcorn Wins a Hot Ride=

"About me.... I live in Kapunda with my partner, John Low. I drive a 1970 Datsun 240Z."

"As you know, I have worked with Rally SA for five years, always on the stage that is run by David Milne. It's a friendly group and I enjoy the event, even when we have had a 5 am start!"

"I am an artist. In fact, the photo was taken in ARTWORKS gallery in the main Street of Kapunda."

"I also sew at home - racewear for SAVIC - and it's been a thrill to see a few of my fireproof suits on drivers and navigators in the rally."

" Now I'm looking forward to seeing things from the inside of a rally car."
