"They run huge promotions throughout South Australia in the lead-up to the rally that result in it being one of the best attended events in the championship. The special stages in the Mount Crawford Forest are a real spectacle for the fans."
Naming rights to the South Australian event is just the latest development in the escalation of Toyota's motorsport involvement.
"We want people to know that Toyota is passionate about cars and motorsport," Matthew Callachor said.
"As part of our overall brand communication strategy, we are now investing money and resources to make sure people are aware of that passion."
The company has developed four new motorsport advertisements under the banner, "We Race. We Learn. You Win."
Last month Toyota launched its motorsport website at www.toyotamotorsport.com.au. The website features all the latest on Toyota's rally involvement, as well as the company's international motorsport activities, such as Formula One and IndyCar.
It has also signed up as a sponsor of Channel Ten's RPM motorsports program.
