2006 Rally of the Year

The CAMS Australian Motorsport Awards were held in Melbourne on December 15, and it was quite an occasion.
To be there amongst some of the icons of motor sport was good, but even better was the announcement of the inaugural Rally of the Year.
Yes, it was awarded to the Toyota Rally SA, and Ivar Stanelis was privileged to accept on behalf of all of us.
Ivar would like to thank Andrew Daniels, Chief executive of the SA Motor Sports Board, and the members of the Board for their tremendous support.
Ivar would also like to thank Toyota for being our naming rights sponsor, and for their truly professional input, NEC for supporting the series overall, his deputies in Scott Thompson, Rob Coppins and Errol Bailey, our Officials co-ordinator and Secretary Christine Potts, our course checker Peter Finger, our stage commanders and stage management teams - and of course he wants to particularly acknowledge and thank our army of volunteers, about 800 of you, who really made it all possible.
We can all be proud of what we have done together .
